Little Warriors is committed to:

Provide awareness and information about child sexual abuse.

Provide child sexual abuse prevention strategies to adults through education.

Provide information about healing and support resources.

Provide a treatment facility to help children cope with the devastating effects of child sexual abuse.

 

Goals & Objectives

Awareness

Relay a fundamental prevention education message, to culturally sensitive communities, that fit the needs of the growing multi-cultural and Aboriginal communities across Canada.

Enhancement of community impact to provide prevention training and mental health treatment to high risk and vulnerable individuals within communities.

Give rise to community resource access. Provide Canadians with local and national child sexual abuse resource information.

Prevention

Spread the message of responsibility, action and hope by training specially selected volunteers to deliver the prevention workshop to adults across Canada.

Reduce the stigma on child sexual abuse, and facilitate an increased transfer of skills and knowledge, through the delivery of a research based Canadian child sexual abuse prevention program.

Create road blocks for sexual predators and encourage organizations to incorporate mandatory child sexual abuse prevention policies and procedures.

Treatment

Create warrior-like compassion. Commit to bring access to a treatment centre for all the children across Canada who have been sexually abused.

Provide a safe and secure treatment centre for children and youth who have been sexually abused.

Help to fill the mental health gap of time-delayed traditional child sexual abuse counselling methods and provide effective clinical focused treatment that will be the first of its kind in Canada.

Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre

Since the first Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) was launched in the U.S. in 1985, CACs have become recognized internationally as an effective and efficient way to support child and youth victims of sexual and physical assault. CACs increase collaboration, reduce costs and speed up prosecutions. The Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre is one of 25 CACs across Canada.

Southwest Crisis Services

Information

We focus on building healthier families and communities together. Through the support of our programs, our clients will feel more confident and competent, be more knowledgeable about healthy, abuse-free relationships, and have new resources to help them thrive.

    Toll Free Crisis Line: 1-800-567-3334
    The Crisis Line is staffed 24 hours a day for 365 days a year. The line can provide telephone support, information, and referrals to all residents of Southwest Saskatchewan.
  • Southwest Safe Shelter: (306) 778-3692
    Short-term (Four to six weeks) safe, secure, comfortable shelter is available free of charge to women and their children in crisis. Twenty-four hour staff provides support, referrals, and    information. Moms may choose to have the child support worker meet with their children during this time.
  • Outreach Services: (306) 778-3433
    Provides confidential supportive counselling, advocacy, education, information, assistance, referrals, and support groups. This program is for women, men, children, youth, families, and couples in Southwest Saskatchewan.
  • Supportive Counselling
    Someone will assist you in finding healthy, constructive ways to deal with problems. Learn new skills and strategies in how to get through those “tough times”.
  • Assistance
    Practical assistance is offered in searching for employment, housing, childcare, clothing, food, legal support, cross cultural assistance, transportation, ect.
  • Information
    Regarding healthy lifestyles, relationships,ect… We believe knowledge is strenght. New ideas can help make better life choices.
  • Violence Prevention Education
    Create, present, and implement publis and school based educational opportunities in regards to boundaries, bullying, conflict resolution, dating violence, friendship, healthy relationships, peer pressure, ect.  To help create healthy families and communities, Free2BeGirlz and Free2BeBoyz programs are operated under the violence prevention education.

Referral Process

Anyone can contact the Outreach Manager at (306) 778-3433 requesting services for themselves. Professionals, family members, or friends are welcome to contact the Outreach Manager on behalf of the individual looking for support.

Swift Current City RCMP

Information:

The Swift Current City RCMP has 24 hours/day staffing and services the City of Swift Current. The surrounding Swift Current area is serviced by a Rural Detachment which is based within the City of Swift Current.

Services:

  • Criminal Record Checks: Criminal record checks can be completed if you have a street address within the City of Swift Current (no appointments are necessary).
  • Criminal record check for volunteers: Attend the detachment with your volunteer letter from the agency/organization as well as two pieces of government issued identification with one that includes your photo.
  • Criminal record check for employment or other purposes: Attend the detachment with two pieces of government issued identification with one that includes your photo, as well as payment for a $25.00 fee (cash only).  View and print the Criminal Record Check form here.
  • Fingerprints: Fingerprints can be completed for civil, government employment, waivers, and immigration purposes.
  • Fingerprints for volunteers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on Tuesdays. Nothing additional is required.
  • Fingerprints for non-volunteers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 400 pm on Tuesdays. Required will be 2 certified cheques or money orders each for $25.00 being made out to Receiver General.
  • Fingerprints for waivers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 400 pm on Tuesdays. Required will be 1 certified cheque or money order for the amount of $25.00 being made out to Receiver General.
  • Fingerprints for Pardons: We are not able to complete electronic fingerprints for pardons

Victim Services – South West

Information

Victim Services South West come to the aid of victims of crime and traumatic events through referrals by the RCMP. We provide emotional support, information, crisis intervention, court services, and referrals to professional organizations.

We are a police based program supported by the RCMP serving the southwest for the past 21 years. Our mandate is to minimize trauma, prevent further victimization, coordinate community and volunteer resources.

Referral Process

Services are generally accessed through referrals by RCMP detachments and municipal police. Referrals are also accepted from other helping organizations/agencies.
