Farm Stress Line

Information:

To provide confidential crisis telephone counselling, support, information and referral services that respond to the needs of rural individuals, youth and families living on the farm or in a rural Saskatchewan community.
24 hours per day. Seven days per week.  Free and Confidential. There is no call display.

The Farm Stress Line can help by:

  • Clarifying the problem or concern and work with you toward a solution
  • Connecting you with the appropriate organization, professional or program that best suits your needs
  • Listening and supporting in a safe, neutral and non-judgemental environment

Calls to the Farm Stress Line are answered by Mobile Crisis Services, a non-profit, community based agency providing crisis intervention services in Saskatchewan since 1974. Whether it is information, conflict or crisis, the first step is communication.

Poison Control Centre

Information:

Call 1-866-454-1212 for emergency treatment advice for people exposed to all kinds of poisons including:

  • Drugs;
  • Plants;
  • Mushrooms;
  • Pesticides;
  • Snake and spider bites; and
  • Household cleaners and chemicals.

This confidential service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round.

You will receive immediate assessment and treatment recommendations for poison and chemical emergencies by specially-trained poison experts.

You will talk to a real person providing expert advice, information, follow-up, and reassurance.

The Problem Gambling Help Line provides free 24-hour help to people with gambling problems and their families. Callers receive confidential, professional service from trained counsellors.

  • referrals to regional health authority problem gambling counsellors and self-help groups.

Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter (SW YES)

Information:

Vision:  Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter Inc. provides a safe, secure living environment for youth to build resiliency and strong foundations to adulthood and independence, through skill building, connectivity with family and community, and positive health and life choices.

Mission:  To provide safe, secure shelter and support for youth who are homeless or at-risk of being homeless.

Swift Current City RCMP

Information:

The Swift Current City RCMP has 24 hours/day staffing and services the City of Swift Current. The surrounding Swift Current area is serviced by a Rural Detachment which is based within the City of Swift Current.

Services:

  • Criminal Record Checks: Criminal record checks can be completed if you have a street address within the City of Swift Current (no appointments are necessary).
  • Criminal record check for volunteers: Attend the detachment with your volunteer letter from the agency/organization as well as two pieces of government issued identification with one that includes your photo.
  • Criminal record check for employment or other purposes: Attend the detachment with two pieces of government issued identification with one that includes your photo, as well as payment for a $25.00 fee (cash only).  View and print the Criminal Record Check form here.
  • Fingerprints: Fingerprints can be completed for civil, government employment, waivers, and immigration purposes.
  • Fingerprints for volunteers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on Tuesdays. Nothing additional is required.
  • Fingerprints for non-volunteers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 400 pm on Tuesdays. Required will be 2 certified cheques or money orders each for $25.00 being made out to Receiver General.
  • Fingerprints for waivers: Attend the detachment anytime between 8:00 am and 400 pm on Tuesdays. Required will be 1 certified cheque or money order for the amount of $25.00 being made out to Receiver General.
  • Fingerprints for Pardons: We are not able to complete electronic fingerprints for pardons

Victim Services – South West

Information

Victim Services South West come to the aid of victims of crime and traumatic events through referrals by the RCMP. We provide emotional support, information, crisis intervention, court services, and referrals to professional organizations.

We are a police based program supported by the RCMP serving the southwest for the past 21 years. Our mandate is to minimize trauma, prevent further victimization, coordinate community and volunteer resources.

Referral Process

Services are generally accessed through referrals by RCMP detachments and municipal police. Referrals are also accepted from other helping organizations/agencies.
