Birth Certificates

Information:

A birth certificate is your most valuable identity document. It’s a legal document issued by the Province.

You need a birth certificate to get other important identification documents, like a:

  • Driver’s license
  • Passport, or
  • Social Insurance Number

Cypress Health Region – Midwives

Information:

Our focus is to provide comprehensive midwifery care to low risk women and the priority population in the Cypress Health Region.

Referral Process

Interested clients should self-refer by calling the office at (306) 778-5118. Reception will gather information from caller and inform them of when to come for an information session to see if they can be accepted into the program.

Cypress Health Region – Parent Mentoring Program

Information:

The Parent Mentoring Program of Saskatchewan (PMPS) is a home-visiting based, outreach program that provides assistance and support to parents who are pregnant or parenting a newborn to five years of age. In this program, parents are matched with a volunteer mentor or a para-professional who will enhance the parents ability to effectively care for her/his children and self.

Referral Process

Referrals are accepted from agencies or self referrals when the program coordinator is contacted at (306)778-5259.

First Steps Program

Information:

The First Steps Parenting Group is a weekly group meeting for prenatal parents and parents with children up to 1 year of age.  This is an opportunity to meet new parents, share a meal, learn about prenatal health and infant care, safety, and development, and have an opportunity to share your parenting successes and difficulties and other parenting issues while learning new parenting skills.  This program is intended for those who want to participate in an on-going group and is not a drop-in group.

Kids In Safe Seats (KISS)

Information:

K.I.S.S. provides safe, subsidized car seats for families in need with funding from Family Resource Centre, S.G.I., Swift Current Kinettes, Swift Current Firefighters and Saskatchewan Prevention Institute.  This program covers all car seats from baby seats to booster seats.  An application will be completed, and an education component is provided by a certified car seat technician.

The Family Resource Centre Swift Current inc.

Information:

Working together to build strong families, we provide programs and services for families with children 0-6 years old.

Programs:

  • Parent Connections: Is a referral based parenting program for families with children 18 months to 6 years old. The program includes a group meal, parenting sessions with childcare and transportation provided.
    • Starting September and ending in June the program runs Monday’s : 5:30- 7:00 pm.
  • Let’s Play:  Is a supportive coordinator led parent/child playgroup with a bonding and learning focus.  While at Let’s Play there are healthy snacks provided.
    • This programs runs Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s from 10 am  until noon starting in September and ending in June.  This program is by drop-in and referral.
  • First Steps: First Steps is a referral based parenting group for prenatal families with children 0-18 months of age.  At this group there are meals, childcare, and transportation provided.
    • This Program runs Friday’s from 11 am until 1 pm at the Salvation Army (Swift Current) beginning in September.
  • Messy Fingers:Messy fingers is a 10 week program for children ages 3-5 years of age. This program is designed to assist with childhood development using circle time, creative arts, activity stations, weekly themes, movement stories, songs, and healthy snacks. This program is a referral based program that can be initiated by self or professionals.
    •  The program beings in September and offers a variety of times. Thursday morning from 10 am until noon and 1 pm until 3 pm.
    • *Please note this group has a cost of $25.00.
  • Positive Discipline: Is a 6 week parenting program that will be offered in the fall of 2015.
    • Pre-registration is required! Childcare will be provided for those in attendance.
    • *This program is referral based and does have a $25.00 required deposit.
  • Teen Parent Program:The teen parent program runs from September to June. The program provides teen parents childcare opportunities when they are attending school. While in school the children will attend Milestones Early Learning Centre.
    • *This is a referral based program.
  • KISS: KISS stands for Kids in Safe Seats. This is a subsidized car seat program which helps families qualify for a safe car seat.
    • There is a referral process and a $20.00 deposit required. Please call or fill out the form if you are interested.
  • EAL Summer Preschool:This preschool offers newcomer children ages 3-5 years a 7 week program. This program offers morning and afternoon groups, transportation, a healthy snack, and play based programs to help strengthen English language and social skills.
    • *To participate, families need to register and pay a $25.00 deposit.
